December 21, 2009 EcoDepot featured in Spokesman's DownToEarthNW blog
The Spokesman-Review's DownToEarthNW blog wrote recently on the 15 year anniversary of EcoDepot:
This summer EcoDepot celebrated its 15-year anniversary. Sullivan, a former elementary school teacher, started the business with her brother, Bruce Gage. Both had worked for Northwest Energy Products, and when it closed, they decided to strike out on their own.

Environmentally Friendly, Recycled Surface Materials are Here!
EcoDepot, Inc. is proud to announce the availability of environmentally-friendly surface materials.
Invented in 1996, Vetrazzo is composed of a proprietary formula that combines recycled glass with cement, additives and pigments.
All of the glass used in Vetrazzo is recycled, and it makes up about 85 percent of the final material by weight. The largest proportion of glass comes from curbside recycling programs. Other glass comes from post industrial usage, windows, dinnerware, stemware, automotive windshields, stained glass, laboratory glass, reclaimed glass from building demolition, and other unusual sources such as decommissioned traffic lights.
Every panel of Vetrazzo is unique. Variations in patter and color will occur, adding to the beauty of each surface.
ECO by Cosentino reuses materials that have reached the end of their life cycle, thus saving on the creation and consumption of natural resources. Most of the raw materials used in the creation of ECO by Cosentino include porcelain, mirror, crystallized ash, glass, stone scraps and corn. The advantage of this is that the material being used has no other lifecycle.
ECO surfaces are non-porous, do not require sealers, and are available in 10 designer colors and two textures.
To see samples of these and other products, be sure to come by our showroom. We'd love to show them off.

September 21, 2009 Sustainability Showcase Tour highlights Spokane homes on forefront of eco-friendly design
The Sustainability Showcase was a complete success. According to an article in the Spokesman-Review, the turnout on Sunday, September 21, 2009, demonstrated that "an increasing interest in Spokane of environmentally friendly building techniques...parallels a trend seen nationally."
“'People are becoming much more aware of the green movement,' said Nadine Sullivan, owner of Eco Depot Inc., a retail outlet for eco-friendly building materials at 1326 E. Sprague Ave," notes the Spokesman.
That couldn't be more beneficial. In an article on E-how, one-fourth of the world's wood and one-sixth of its fresh water are used in building construction. Worldwatch Institute, an independent organization that analyzes critical global issues, says that the situation will only become worse as the world's population continues to migrate toward cities. The migration will cause greater demands and will add stress on increasingly scarce essential resources, especially water.
As the nation moves closer to realizing the value of developing "green" building materials and construction methods and using them appropriately, there are local residents who can show us the way.
July 14, 2009 Consumer Reports finds bamboo flooring to be of great value
In an August 2009 article, Consumer Reports magazine claims EcoTimber's Woven Honey bamboo flooring "beat a bevy of hardwoods with its impressive resistance to wear and dents." The magazine was clearly impressed. It rated EcoTimber's Woven Honey bamboo flooring the number one prefinished solid wood product. San Francisco Business Times agreed. In June this year, it recognized EcoTimber to be among the Best Green Products for its clean innovations and progressive green-business practices. Obviously, EcoTimber bamboo flooring is a green product worth evaluating.
